چکیده

The goal of this work is to make an (n,m) assignment for individual suspended single wall carbon nanotubes (SWNTs) based on the measurements of their Raman Radial Breathing Modes and electron transition energies Eii based on Raman spectroscopy. The suspended SWNTs are grown on a photolithographically defined electrode pattern, which is designed so that suspended SWNTs are grown at known locations with known directions. The suspended SWNTs are then characterized by atomic force microscopy (AFM), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and Raman spectroscopy. Finally, the information on the diameter distribution and the energy of the electronic transitions of the resonant suspended SWNTs obtained from Raman spectroscopy is compared to other published works to make (n,m) assignments of a number of suspended SWNTs. Growth and characterization of aligned carbon nanotubes from patterned nickel nanodots and uniform thin films

Microstructures of well-aligned multiwall carbon nanotubes grown on patterned nickel nanodots and uniform thin films by plasma-enhanced chemical vapor deposition have been studied by electron microscopy. It was found that growth of carbon nanotubes on patterned nickel nanodots and uniform thin films is different. During growth of carbon nanotubes, a nickel particle sits at the tip of each nanot...

CVD growth control of single-walled carbon nanotubes

Chemical vapor deposition (CVD) of singlewalled carbon nanotubes (SWNTs) has been improved in growth controllability for the practical application in electronic and optical devices. Vertically aligned growth of nitrogen-doped and small-diameter SWNTs and horizontally aligned growth on crystal quartz are described. By developing the patterned growth technique, transparent and flexible field effe...

Guided growth of large-scale, horizontally aligned arrays of single-walled carbon nanotubes and their use in thin-film transistors.

A convenient process for generating large-scale, horizontally aligned arrays of pristine, single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWNTs) is described. The approach uses guided growth, by chemical vapor deposition (CVD), of SWNTs on miscut single-crystal quartz substrates. Studies of the growth reveal important relationships between the density and alignment of the tubes, the CVD conditions, and the mor...

Electrochemical impedance measurement of prostate cancer cells using carbon nanotube array electrodes in a microfluidic channel.

Highly aligned multi-wall carbon nanotubes were synthesized in the shape of towers and embedded into fluidic channels as electrodes for impedance measurement of LNCaP human prostate cancer cells. Tower electrodes up to 8 mm high were grown and easily peeled off a silicon substrate. The nanotube electrodes were then successfully soldered onto patterned printed circuit boards and cast into epoxy ...

Development and Fabrication of Carbon Nanotube (CNT) based Morphological and Electrical Characterization

This paper presents the development and fabrication of carbon nanotube (CNT) based sensor devices through morphological and electrical characterization. The silicon oxide (SiO2) as insulator is formed by dry oxidation process and Aurum (Au) layer is deposited using thermal evaporator. Then, the electrodes pattern is transferred by photolithography process. The single-walled carbon nanotubes (SW...
